ANDRES BORGES REYES, nasce il 4 Novembre 1970 nella città di Baracoa, Cuba. Artista plastico e poeta. Ha al suo attivo numerose personali a Cuba e all’estero; ha partecipato a diverse rassegne d’arte e alcune delle sue opere fanno parte di una delle maggiori collezioni private di arte cubana che è stata esposta in diverse istituzioni museali degli Stati Uniti.

L'opera di questo artista - così come la sua vita - è un melange tra pittura, scultura e poesia. Racconti – o meglio- bozzetti tra la metafora e il realismo più crudo, immersi nella vita quotidiana . Nei lavori di Borges si percepisce l’utilizzo predominante di “textura” e collage, avvalendosi di una tecnica particolare e un linguaggio pittorico-figurativo , realizzata con spatole, pennelli o semplicemente mani, dita e unghie- Ne risultano  immagini che si rivolgono ad un pubblico molto ampio, formalmente ricche e concettualmente espressive, spesso legate alla sua opera di poesia.

“... ho sempre bisogno di un cambio, un intervallo. Per questo quando lavoro ad una serie, improvvisamente sento il bisogno di schizzare altre tele, per poi tornare alla serie precedente. Credo che lo stato d'animo, sia fondamentale nel momento del dialogo con la tela. L'arte è dedizione, desiderio, passione; e non tutti i giorni l'anima ci svela la vita e le sue trame, con lo stesso tono, lo stesso disegno. Il fatto che la mia opera plastica o installativa transiti per vari stili, mi fa sentire più a mio agio con la mia mente creatrice.”   A. Borges

ANDRES REYES BORGES, born Nov 4th, 1970 in the city of Baracoa, Cuba. Fine artist and poet.  He has  participated in several solo and numerous art exhibitions in Cuba and abroad; and some of his works are part of one of the largest private collections of Cuban art that has been exhibited in several museums in the United States.

The work of this artist -as well as his life- is a melange of different styles and techniques. Usage of spatulas, brushes or simply the hands, fingers and nails, obtaining a work of images and values that influence and reach people in a conceptual and rich expressive way; in many of the cases bound to its poetic work.

"... I always need a change, a pause ; that  is why,  when I work in a series, suddenly feel the need to splash other canvases, then return to that series I was working on. I think the mood is of major significance  when there is a dialogue with the canvas. Art is dedication, desire, passion, and not every day an artist can reveal life and its plots with the same tones or same design. The fact that my paintings or installative works is immersed in different styles, makes me feel more comfortable and at ease with my creative mind. "   A. Borges
